ANTENATAL All antenatal examinations are done at a time and place convenient for yourself. You (and your partner) will have every opportunity to discuss all aspects of pregnancy and birth. Antenatal appointments will concentrate on you and your baby’s physical well-being as well as taking plenty of time to work through any hopes and fears you may have. If you have had a previous difficult or traumatic birth, this can be discussed if you feel it necessary. The appointments offer the opportunity to build up mutual trust between us so that by the time you go into labour you fell comfortable with your birth team! As your pregnancy advances, appointments will become more frequent. This will give you (and your partner) many opportunities to discuss your wishes for the birth. You will always be able to make contact via telephone or mobile phone should any problems occure. |
