After the birth of your baby I shall visit you either later that day or the following morning. For the first week, if it is your wish, I shall visit you every day for at least an hour, giving us plenty of time to establish breast-feeding. Also it will give you time to talk through your labour and birth, to debrief.

On each visit, with your permission I will examine both you and your baby, making sure that all is well.

After the first week I will continue to visit you regularly up until 28 days after the birth of your baby, reducing the number of visits slowly to enable you to become independent.

Throughout this time I remain on call for you in the event of any problem. I can be there at any time for you.

When the time comes for me to discharge you I shall ensure you have a copy of your notes to keep.
